The city of Atlanta will be celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 21
Atlanta's downtown has a prominent role in the American Civil Rights Movement, while the eastern part of our community is where Dr. King lived and led.

In a recent article on 901 WABE, Mtamanika Youngblood discussed how King was forged in the Old Fourth Ward. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Park, Atlanta The King Center, and, if you continue down Auburn Avenue, Sweet Auburn's rich ecosystem of churches, community spaces, and small businesses can be explored.
In spite of the federal government shutdown, the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Park will open from January 19 - February 3, thanks to a grant from The Delta Air Lines Foundation and recreation fees collected by the NPS. Read the announcement here.
